Why headlights turn yellow
Modern headlight lenses are made of polycarbonate plastic with a factory UV-protective layer. Years of sun, road salt, car-wash chemicals and street grime wear that layer away, and the plastic underneath oxidizes — that's the yellow, hazy film you see. It sits on the outside of the lens, which is why it can be removed.
How we restore them
1. Inspect. We check that the haze is on the outside (not moisture inside the housing) and tape off the surrounding paint.
2. Remove oxidation. The damaged layer is taken off in progressive stages until the lens is uniform.
3. Polish to clarity. The lens is machine-polished until it's clear and glossy again.
4. Protect. A protective coat is applied to slow the return of yellowing.
Restore or replace?
Replacing headlight assemblies commonly costs several hundred dollars per side — and far more for many LED and adaptive units. If the housing isn't cracked and there's no moisture inside, restoration gets you most of the look and light output back for a fraction of that.
